Zusammenfassung: | The performance is studied of a 'veiling glare' type of visibility meter in which the ratio of veiling glare to direct viewing is controlled by polarization. It was found that the detectability of standard reference targets was a function of shape as well as contrast. For this reason, and because of better reproducibility, it is recommended that gratings of different contrast rather than small spots be used as standard reference targets. As a result of experience with this instrument it is recommended that the field of view of the field visibility meter which is being designed be increased to at least 25 deg. ( |
