Zusammenfassung:Various experimental and analytical techniques have been developed at Arnold Engineering Development Center (AEDC) for diagnosing particulate-laden flows with very rapid time resolution. These procedures allow determining the average particle size, the distribution of particles by chemical species, and the size distribution histograms for single particle species with known complex refractive indices. If transmission measurements are made, then the particle number density average along the line of sight can be determined as well. This report describeds these particle diagnostic procedures and discusses some of their applications to specific Air Force needs. Prepared in cooperation with ARO, Inc., Tullahoma, TN.
