Zusammenfassung:The purpose of the study was to examine human depth perception as it relates to the requirements for visual simulation in Air Force flight simulators. Most, if not all, flying tasks require that depth judgments be made on the basis of extra-cockpit visual information. The bases on which such judgments are made by observers in the real world have been the subject of study for more than a century, and the majority of the cues have been identified. This effort examines the visual displays of a sample of Air Force and commercial flight simulators in order to assess the efficacy with which these cues are presented in visual simulation systems.
