Zusammenfassung: | Results are presented from research conducted in the following AREAS: (1) The dependence of observed surface wave amplitudes on explosion yield and the characteristics of the emplacement medium is reviewed. Surface wave data compiled by others is used in conjunction with a new data set consisting of Airy phase amplitudes from the WWSSN stations ALQ and TUC; (2) The theoretical dependence of surface wave amplitude on the important controlling parameters is discussed. Attention is directed to the assumptions of the theoretical models and their consequences; and (3) Preliminary results are presented for the development and testing of a deconvolution technique for analyzing short period teleseismic recordings of explosions.
