Zusammenfassung: | This research project proposes a new Army Regulation (AR) for the Army National Guard (ARNG) and Army Reserve (USAR) regarding the selection of Reserve component (RC) officers for participation in US Army War College (USAWC) studies and their subsequent utilization upon graduation. The study incorporates the recommendations of two previous USAWC projects completed in 1974 and 1975. These previous projects investigated the same general topic of selection of RC officers for participation in USAWC studies and their subsequent utilization. The focus of the study and proposed AR is to develop an improved selection system, closely paralleling the Active Army selection process, utilizing an order of merit list and an early identification and notification process. The major features contained in the AR are each developed with background and rationale for changes in the selection and utilization process. Also included in the study are the results and an analysis of key items on an extensive survey questionnaire which was sent to over 1,000 RC officers who are potential participants in USAWC studies. The population surveyed included over 500 colonels, lieutenant colonels and majors from each RC. Additionally, the study recommends a list of potential assignments for RC graduates of USAWC. The annexes to the study include the proposed AR 135-( ) in final format and the complete results of the survey. (Author) |
