Zusammenfassung:This paper represents an evaluation, updating and extension of the current OSD Sizing Methodology for U.S. Air Force Central Supply and Maintenance Resources initially prepared in 1971 and presented in IDA Paper P-183, A Sizing Methodology for U.S. Air Force Central Supply and Maintenance Resources. The paper considers five years of additional historical Air Force logistic support information. Elements of the existing Air Force methodology which relates force-structure oriented logistic support variables to total Air Force financial (resource) requirements in Program VII program elements were analyzed and evaluated in light of additional information to determine if new cost-estimating relationships were required to update and improve the aggregate Air Force sizing capability. In addition, this paper provides an information system to be used by OASD/PA and E in obtaining data on a regular basis from Air Force logistic cost and workload reporting systems. These data will permit OASD/PA and E to maintain current the IDA-developed methodology for estimating Air Force central supply and maintenance financial requirements.
