Zusammenfassung:Aerodynamic stability and drag data were obtained from yaw card tests of the high density armor piercing flechette. The test items encased in aluminum sabots, were launched from a 30mm smooth bore powder gun. The sabot petals were deflected by a steel cone, 22 feet from the muzzle smooth bore powder gun. The test item then proceeded through the instrumented portion of the range, passing through 20 yaw cards spaced approximately 10 feet apart. Six velocity measurements were obtained when the projectile punched holes in 12 sheets of circuit paper; one sheet started a chronograph and the second sheet stopped the chronograph. Aerodynamic stability data were obtained by analyzing successive holes cut in the yaw cards by the projectile. The drag data were derived from the measured reduction in velocity as the projectile traversed the range. The tests were conducted over a Mach number range of 1.25 to 2.25.
