Zusammenfassung: | The Phase III design objective was to redesign the Phase II fuze to provide an inherently safe, reliable, and inexpensive system. The design emphasis was directed primarily toward repackaging the fuze safing and arming system for an arm-after-impact capability and incorporating a free fall environmental sensing system as part of the pre-arm mechanization. The circuit and mechanical design was accomplished to maintain the Phase II inexpensive modular packaging representative of a production-type fuze. Air Force environmental and airdrop testing of 53 fuzes and contractor environmental testing of 11 fuzes demonstrated suitability of the design and packaging concepts. (Author)
