Zusammenfassung:The program involves the development of a permanent magnet focused, conduction cooled, distributed interaction klystron which oscillates at 93.75 GHz, produces pulses of 10 kW peak output power by the application of a relatively low control voltage, and operates for more than 500 hours. It is believed that this objective can be reached by incorporating a gridded electron gun in a tube design developed under a previous contract. A scaled up model of the electron gun was made in order to evaluate modifications in electrode geometry and anode pole piece geometry. The modifications were made in order to improve high voltage insulation and magnetic flux shielding. Test results show that both modifications improved the performance of the electron gun to the point that the design is considered finalized, and all required parts and subassemblies are now on order or in process.
