Zusammenfassung: | Research was continued to investigate new and improved high temperature (up to 8oodeg F) resistant coatings capable of withstanding aerodynamic heating of high speed (greater than Mach 3) aircraft and missile systems. Fluorinated ethylene propylene and polychlorotrifluoroethylene coatings have been satisfactorily applied by plasma spraying. Polytetrafluoroethylene and a coating-grade polyarylsulfone resin did not show adequate melt flow to allow film coalescence. A varnish coating of a benzoxazole-imide ordered copolymer has shown outstanding property retention during extended aging at 650deg F. (Author, Modified-PL). |
