Zusammenfassung:The purpose of the program was to determine the feasibility of constructing a Distance Measuring Equipment using as its basis existing VHF transceivers with an externally applied modification kit to provide accurate range measurement between an aircraft and a ground position. The design plan describes an approach which provides range measurement using a relatively simple modification kit at each end of the VHF link and requiring no internal modification of either transceiver. The design plan shows in detail the approach to follow and with the guidance of this plan a complete set of Distance Measuring Equipment can be fabricated. (Author)
