Zusammenfassung: | The results are presented of a study made of a group of miners to determine the extent of hemodynamic changes caused by the influence of heat. Particular attention was paid to fluctuations in the minute volume and output volume of the heart as measured by blood pressure and pulse readings. Conditions of the test are described. The resultant findings indicated that exposure to heat causes increased minute volume and output volume, except that in the last thirty minutes of the two-hour period a decrease occurs. It was also noted that the younger men exhibited greater increases in volume at each stage of the test, and also lesser decreases in the last thirty minutes than the older men. Causes of these changes are analyzed and their implications are discussed. (Author)
