Zusammenfassung: | The results of axial fatigue tests of threaded, filleted, and welded steel eye-bars are reported. These tests show that under axial loading conditions the eye-bars are subjected to bending stresses in addition to axial stresses. These bending stresses are due to moments developed at the ends of the bar and by load eccentricity. The combination of stresses at the geometrical stress concentrations in the bars resulted in maximum stresses which exceeded the yield point of the material. The fatigue behavior of the bars was a function of these local stresses. One eye-bar was subjected to a constant axial load and a superimposed flexural load. The results of this combined stress test are very limited but show the great complexity of the behavior under these combined loading conditions. (Author) |
