Zusammenfassung:The U. S. Army Engineer Waterways Experiment Station (WES) Automatic Data Processing Center (ADPC) provides computer services to the WES, the Lower Mississippi Valley Division, and other Corps offices, as requested. In April 1973, concluding a five-year effort, the WES installed a Honeywell G-635 Dual Processor Computer System. Technological improvements in automatic data processing equipment (ADPE) capabilities and growth in demand for computer services during the five-year period from development of specifications to installation of the equipment necessitated significant upgrades to the WES system to handle time sharing and the growth requirements. With the support of the Office, Chief of Engineers, WES undertook a technical evaluation of current ADPE capabilities and development of justification documentation to upgrade current ADPE to meet the WES ADP technical workload. The findings of that evaluation and the necessary support documentation for the ADPE upgrades are contained in this paper. (Author)
