Zusammenfassung: | It is a well established fact that aircraft, especially helicopters, become electrically charged in particular conditions of flight, such as in the case of flying or hovering near particulate matter. The trailing vortices shed by each rotor tip, in the case of a helicopter, flow downward in a helical path and bathe the surface of the helicopter with the fluid field associated with the vortex. The purpose of this research work was to measure the electrical charging rate of a cylindrical body bathed by the trailing vortex shed by a different airfoil 'seeded' with charged particulate in a subsonic wind tunnel. |
