Zusammenfassung:The various noise sources known to be troublesome in a towed ELF H-field antenna are examined theoretically and formulas are presented enabling noise voltages to be predicted from other measurable quantities. The treatment identifies the role played by the various contributing factors such as cable vibration, cable properties, core permeability, geomagnetic field, etc., and so indicates the way in which the noises can be reduced. Comparisons with experimentally measured noise voltages support. the theory.
