Zusammenfassung: | This is a preliminary review of an experimental program carried out with the SRI Mark I and Mark V (1967) ruby lidars at Independence, California during February 1967. The purpose of the program was to establish the value of lidar observations for studying air motion in the Sierra wave, with special reference to any indications of turbulent motion. Lidar observations make it possible to measure the amplitude and wavelength of standing waves where these are manifested by clouds. Again, air motion may also be inferred from lidar-observed inhomogeneities which slow particulate-matter distribution in apparently clear air. (Author) |
