Zusammenfassung: | The report is concerned with thermal stress in an open, circular cylindrical shell with a circular hole. The shell is subjected to a stationary uniform heat flow and the condition that thermal insulation exists at the boundary of the hole. The stresses and deformation of the shell under the prescribed conditions are analyzed. The analysis is based on the method of superposition. The actual stresses in the shell may be considered as the sum of the following three parts: (a) stresses caused by the given heat flow in a similar shell without hole, (b) stresses in the shell caused by edge loads at the boundary of the hole and (c) stresses in the shell caused by the local disturbance of the heat flow near the hole. A method of obtaining numerical results is also outlined. (Author) |
