Zusammenfassung:The effect of diffusion porosity propagation on the mechanical properties of diffusion-brazed joints in OT4 titanium alloy has been investigated. Brazing was done in an argon atmosphere at 960-1050C under a constant pressure at a holding time of 5-120 min; brazed specimens were tensile tested and microanalyzed. It was found that in specimens brazed with PSr 85-15 alloy, the strength of joints increased with increasing brazing temperature or increasing holding time only up to the appearance of diffusion pores, which took place above 1000C, or at 1000C after 60 min holding. It was also established that under a pressure of 0.2-5.0 kg/sq mm, the width of a seam decreases and that stronger joints can be obtained in OT4 alloy specimens at a lower temperature and a shorter holding time than in diffusion brazing without pressure.
