Zusammenfassung:A 'State of the Art' study is given of the quantitative aspects of ripple formation and movement. Furthermore, additional instrumentation was developed to trace the direction and magnitude of water movements related to strength and period of swell. Further investigation of desert ripples was made and data were gathered on sand ripples on the sea floor, with emphasis on the relationship between ripple wave length and median grain size and of median grain size in ripple troughs and crests to ripple wave length, water depth and ocean wave period.
