Zusammenfassung: | Theoretical and analytical investigations were aimed at determining the key characteristics and parameters of systems to enable the use of military communications equipment over difficult paths. The operational parameters considered were traffic, transmission range, terrain, foliage, frequency range, modulation, and types of relay capabilities. Equipment parameters were: relay control, transmission modes, size and weight, radio frequency power levels, receiver sensitivities, power requirements, operational life, interference, jamming, platform performance, platform payloads, compatibility, basing, availability, and costs. The study was broken into four tasks: communication mission requirements, propagation analysis, relay analysis, and platform analysis.
