Zusammenfassung:Fatigue results of 11 wings programme-loaded in ascending order were compared with 41 wings tested in descending order. Results indicate a substantial reduction in the log mean life when testing in ascending order but negligible difference in variance. Comparison of these results with results from two other studies indicates that the magnitude of peak stress and shape of the spectrum applied, very much influences whether descending or ascending order of load gives the longer endurance.
