DIFFERENTIATION BETWEEN PROTEOLYTIC AND TAME ESTEROLYTIC ACTIVITY IN CROTALUS ATROX VENOM
Although Crotalus atrox venom can hydrolyze proteins and arginine esters, these activities are not due to a trypsin-like enzyme. Zusammenfassung: | Although Crotalus atrox venom can hydrolyze proteins and arginine esters, these activities are not due to a trypsin-like enzyme. Proteolytic and esterolytic activities have been differentiated by specific inhibition by such compounds as PMSF, DFP, EDTA and 2-mercaptoethanol, and by actual resolution of the venom by DEAE-cellulose chromatography. Preliminary results suggest that the proteolytic activity in the venom may have a limited specificity and that this specificity is quite unlike that of trypsin and plasmin. (Author) |
