Zusammenfassung:Specific characters of Shigella organisms associated with the ability to induce the pathological change in the intestinal loop of rabbits or disease in man was sought, and an antigen which seems to associate with this ability but not associated with known antigen was studied by immunizing rabbits and absorbing the sera with semi-quantitive technic, but final conclusion was not reached in this period. Also the correlation among serum- and copro-agglutinin, the induction of the pathological change and the rate of the appearance of the specific organisms was studied both in animal experiments and in human cases, and it was found that serum-agglutinin titer has no correlation with the protection nor the rate of appearance of the specific organisms, but copro-agglutinin was paralleled with the protection and the appearance of the specific organisms. Possibility of presence of another mechanism than copro-antibody which confer with the protection was also suggested from experiments on orally immunized rabbits. (Author)
