The German Air Force sponsored the development of heavy sub-stratosphere pressure suits but was primarily interested in the use of pressure cabins. It was interested in the development of a light-weight automatic operating, non-interfering pressure suit for use as an emergency device in case of cabin pressure loss at high altitudes.
