Zusammenfassung: | This developmental program was directed toward the fabrication, operation and testing of unclad nuclear heated thermionic emitters that can be operated in the 1100-1300 C temperature range with an expected current density capability of 1 - 10 amps/sq cm. Electron emitters containing various concentrations of BaO and UO2 dispersed in tungsten were tested both in the laboratory and in a nuclear reactor. The nuclear reactor data, because of its classification status, are published as a separate report entitled ''Development of Barium Oxide - Uranium Oxide Tungsten Emitters for use in Nuclear Heated Thermionic Converters - Part II''.
