Zusammenfassung:An Inhalation Aerosol Dosimeter capable of continuous measurement and monitoring of respiratory retained amounts of aerosols has been developed. The instrument is capable of measuring and monitoring concentrations of aerosols in the range of several hundred to few micrograms per liter of air, and in the particle size range from 10 microns to any submicron size range desired. Laboratory studies of various aerosol sensing concepts were made. These studies lead to the selection of the hydrogen flame-ionization principle as the optimum method from the standpoint of reliability and sensitivity. A novel version of a dual hydrogen flame-ionization detector, operating under slightly reduced pressure has been designed and built in this laboratory.
