Zusammenfassung: | A method developed for studying the equilibrium vapor pressure of high temperature inorganic materials consists of measuring the rate of vapor deposition on a target intercepting a known fraction of the total vapor flux effusing from the orifice of a Knudsen cell. The material is heated by electron bombardment (to temperatures as high as 2500 C). Rates of effusion are obtained by continuously weighing the target; vapor pressures and the heats of vaporization are calculated. The experimental and theoretical techniques are described, and the results of the reinvestigation of the vapor pressure of silver metal at 1273 to 1563 K are given. The vaporization of palladium was studied in the temperature range 1537 to 1841 K. |
