Zusammenfassung: | The Madre radar, which utilizes matched backscatter rejection filters, signal integration by magnetic storage, and high resolution doppler discrimination, has been used to detect transatlantic air traffic via an over- the-horizon mode. Detections of aircraft have been accomplished in the range 800 to 1800 nautical miles with only fair ionospheric propagation conditions prevailing. Discontinuous observations have evidenced the firm capability of target location prediction with intermittent operation.
