Work concerned an underlying mathematical structure for the calculation of the expected number and variance of casualties in terms of the probability distributions of (1) men, (2) impacts, (3) munition contamination pattern , (4) breathing rate, and (5) lethality. The basic structure for the expected number of casualties is completed. The primary portion developed is the calculation of rho square (D sub i) where D sub i is the dose ingested if a man were there. The convariance rho sub t,s between the breathing rate at time t and time s is involved in the general solution. A solution for the special breathing rate function which consists of a constant breathing rate beta to a cutoff time T, where beta and T are random variables, is also given. Work in progress on the details of and on extending the model is also described. (Author)
