Zusammenfassung:Introduction : Nowadays, medical equipment is essential to provide health care services in hospitals. Since 20% of the hospitals costs are devoted to providing such equipment, an appropriate management is required to maintain it. In this study it is intended to investigate the maintenance management of medical equipment in hospitals. Methods and materials : it is a cross-sectional study. The population of the study consisted of 40 managers, nursing services menagers, the head of medical engineering or medical equipment unit in hospitals affiliated to Isfahan University of Medical Sciences. The data were collected by a questionnaire which was checked for its validity and reliability. Results : planning organization, coordination and management of maintaing the medical equipment had the following mean scores respectively : 62%, 44%, 54% and 42% . Conclusion : In order to improve the quality of medical equipment maintenance management, the required financial and human resources must be supplied. It seems essential to train a person as a medical equipment expert, to hold training courses for the hospital personnel to learn how to use this equipment and to provide a software for medical equipment maintenance management.
