Zusammenfassung:Ippolito Aldobrandini, best known as Pope Clemente VIII, served the church at the turn of the 17th century, an important time for Catholicism. Aldobrandini aimed to maintain civil relations within Europe while extending the power of the Catholic church, especially in England. His nephew, archbishop Pietro Aldobrandini, also was influential. He was a patron of the arts who impacted the construction of buildings in Italy. The Aldobrandinis villa in Frascati, Italy, is one example. It dates from the 16th and 17th centuries. Its architecture is examined, as is the influence of the family and the group that defined the villa, the teatro dellacqua.
