Post-Theory and Beyond

Abstract This article surveys and assesses the eclectic trends in literary theory and criticism in the post-theory age with a focus on three rubrics: the cultural turn, the historic turn, and the affective turn. It concludes with a consideration of the current debate about symptomatic reading versus surface reading. Resumo Esse artigo faz um levantamento do eclético panorama da teoria e da crítica literárias na era da pós-teoria, avaliando-o a partir de três rubricas: a virada cultural, a virada histórica, e a virada afetiva. Conclui com uma reflexão sobre o debate atual entre leitura sintomática e leitura de superfície.
