Decacarbonyl(μ-ethylidenimino-1κ N :2κ C )-μ-hydrido- triangulo -triosmium(3  Os – Os )

The title complex, [Os 3 (C 2 H 4 N)H(CO) 10 ] or [Os 3 (CO) 10 (μ-H)(μ-HN=C—CH 3 -1κ N :2κ C )], was synthesized in 41.6% yield by reactions between Os 3 (CO) 11 (CH 3 CN) and 2,4,6-trimethylhexahydro-1,3,5-triazine. The central osmium triangle has two Os I atoms bridged by a hydride ligand and a μ-HN= C—CH 3 -1κ N :2κ C triazine fragment. Three CO ligands complete the coordination sphere around each Os I atom, while the remaining Os 0 atom has four CO ligands. Each Os atom exhibits a pseudo-octahedral coordination environment, discounting the bridging Os—Os bond.
