Zusammenfassung:The paper addresses processes of innovations, which are seen as a vehicle for developmental performances on a regional, national and transnational level. The argument is that innovation is as a social and collaborative achievement. Due to the changing and more fluid structural settings, the relationship between actors and social environments indicates various techniques of adaptation and adjustments of the social context. Innovations can be seen as processes triggered from such actions. In this paper, the consideration of determinants of innovations is at the forefront. The focus is on factors that influence particular social environments to become a trigger to innovations to emerge and contribute to the existence of an innovative society. Theoretical considerations are empirically tested by using a fuzzy-set methodology, which enables significant communication between theoretical concepts and empirical data. The determinants of innovations are mainly considered on a macro level referring to national social fields. The analysis shows that regulatory efficiency, trust, human development and economic capital contribute to innovations as outcome.
