Suplementação com Gerioox®: uso em pacientes com creatinina sérica acima de 1,5 mg/dl

Drugs containing Omega 3, alone or associated with other components, such as vitamin E and selenium, have been used as great allies in treatment and preservation of renal functionality. The objective of this study was to report the effects of supplementation with Gerioox® in dogs that presented serum concentrations of creatinine above 1.5 mg/dl, regardless of the etiology presented, attended in the city of Rio de Janeiro, during the years 2018 and 2019. The 22 cases of dogs were reported, 13 males and 9 females, azotemic, divided into four groups according to the etiologies were reported: (1) hemoparasitosis, (2) Chronic kidney disease, (3) senility, (4) Other diseases (under antibiotic and anti-inflammatory treatment). After treatment of the underlying causes and after 30 days of supplementation with Gerioox®, the animals were reevaluated for serum concentrations of urea and creatinine. It was observed that 82% of the supplemented dogs presented satisfactory results. Only animals from Group 4 and two dogs from Group 2 did not obtain satisfactory results after supplementation. In addition to the improvement in the glomerular filtration rate (GFR), a recovery was observed in erythropoiesis, with 55% of the dogs presenting improvement in the hematocrit results. It was concluded that the multivitamin Gerioox® contributes to the recovery of the azotemias in supplemented animals in the 30-day treatment period. Los medicamentos que contienen omega 3, solos o asociados con otros componentes, como la vitamina E y el selenio, se han utilizado como grandes aliados en el tratamiento y la preservación de la funcionalidad renal. El objetivo del presente estudio fue informar los efectos de la suplementación con Gerioox® en perros que tenían concentraciones de creatinina sérica superiores a 1,5 mg / dl, independientemente de la etiología presentada, atendidos en la ciudad de Río de Janeiro, durante los años 2018 y 2019. Se notificaron casos de 22 perros, 13 machos y 9 hembras, azotémicos, divididos en cuatro grupos según las etiologías: (1) hemoparasitosis, (2) enfermedad renal crónica, (3) senilidad, (4) otras enfermedades (con tratamiento antibiótico y antiinflamatorio). Al tratar las causas subyacentes y después de 30 días de suplementación con Gerioox®, los animales fueron reevaluados para determinar las concentraciones séricas de urea y creatinina.
