Zusammenfassung:The paper formulates a condition for transferring an “open” freezing system into a “closed” one and proposes calculation criteria for creating a capillary barrier. The solution to the problem of capillary barrier location in the ground is obtained, which is based on linking the zone of intense moisture transfer to temperature isolines in the freezing massif. Several existing solutions for determining the temperature field diagram in the road structure at the time of maximum freezing have been considered. A general algorithm for solving the problem of capillary barrier location in the earth bed has been compiled. To verify the obtained solutions, a series of laboratory tests were carried out to determine the magnitude of moisture accumulation and frost heave of sandy loam and loam samples with plasticity number from 0.05 to 0.13 with different location of capillary barrier relative to frost zone.
