Blaschko's lines, a pattern expressed in some dermatological illnesses

With the current advances of genetics several skin conditions with a lineal disposition due to cutaneous mosaicisms have been able to be diagnosed. Although there are five different patterns, Blaschko's lines are the most frequent ones. This pattern consists in imaginary lines caused by a disorder in the cell migration during embryogenesis and it is subdivided into narrow lines and wide lines. The lines may appear in congenital diseases as hamartomas, pigmentary disorders and monogenic diseases, and also in chronic acquired inflammatory diseases, with atrophy and pigment changes. The great diversity of these diseases and the insufficient knowledge about them make it difficult to get to the diagnosis. A bibliographic review was carried out using the services available in the Infomed network, to gather the updated information on these dermatoses and their characteristics.
