Suite vénitienne, de Sophie Calle. Viagem autofotobiográfica com sombras, máscaras e mapas de ilusão

Suite vénitienne is an autophotobiographical fiction. It is the story of a trip to Venice, realized by the French photographer, Sophie Calle. In this hybrid document, which handles the fictional writing, diary and photography, Calle proposes that the reader too may be considered as an observer, hidden through a mask, follower of the Other, because he is always in search of his own shadow. In this paper we consider Sophie Calle as the heiress of the Roland Barthes’s concept of biographeme. Suite vénitienne é um relato autofotobiográfico de uma viagem de sua autora, a fotografa francesa Sophie Calle, para Veneza. Nesse documento híbrido, que manuseia a escrita, o diário e as realizações fotográficas, Calle propõe que o leitor seja também observador, mesmo escondido atrás de uma máscara, e perseguidor do outro, porque sempre em busca do reconhecimento da própria sombra. Parece-nos que Sophie Calle possa ser considerada a herdeira conceitual do biografema barthesiano.
