Zusammenfassung:Le Messager d’Athènes, a French‑written newspaper published in Athens from 1875, is intended for a literate public, quite rich and with international contacts. Created and directed by a Frenchman from Cargèse of Greek origin, Antoine Zannetakis‑Stephanopoli, then by his daughter Jeanne, it is a militant newspaper: he fights at the same time for the promotion of the French language, the Great Idea and Venizelos, and proposes on its favorite subjects articles of substance. It vegetates after the vexations of Venizelos in domestic politics and the Treaty of Lausanne, but survives until 1961 and remains concerned about national interests.
