Zusammenfassung: | The Brazilian Federal Government created in 2010 the National Policy of Solid Waste (PNRS), Law 12305/2010, about the adequate solid waste management in the country. In 2012, the prefecture of Campo Grande, state of Mato Grosso do Sul, created the Complementary Law 209/2012 (Campo Grande, 2012), the Municipal Code of Solid Waste, about the urban cleaning and the municipal solid waste management guidelines. The Complementary Law defined what is a Great Generator of Solid Waste and determined its responsibilities, being necessary then to identify them. The present work used geoprocessing tools to identify and analyze those generators. A density map with possible generators was created, together with an intensity map about the produced waste using two different interpolation methods, which was compared to a list with the Quality Life Index (IQV) of the neighborhoods in the city. The use of geoprocessing proved efficient and potential Great Generators were identified. It was also possible to verify that those locals coincided to neighborhoods with elevated IQVs. Therefore, the local government may use this tool to identify and monitor the establishments categorized as Great Waste Generators. |
