O regimento de conservação das matas do Brasil de 1799

O regimento de conservação das matas que foi instituído no Brasil em 1799 tinha como objetivo sistematizar os cortes das madeiras de construção. As regras estabelecidas foram efetivamente aplicadas nas capitanias da Bahia, de Pernambuco e da Paraíba. O trabalho que se apresenta é uma argumentação historiográfica que versa sobre as especificidades da aplicação do regimento de 1799 no Brasil, em que se abordam os conflitos locais ocasionados pelas limitações comerciais impostas e se analisa a atuação dos Juízes Conservadores das Matas nessa conjuntura política e econômica. A problemática apresentada resultou de uma pesquisa aos fundos e coleções do Arquivo Histórico Ultramarino, nomeadamente do fundo documental Conselho Ultramarino-Brasil, seguida dos habituais métodos historiográficos de leituras, transcrições, análises e contextualização dos documentos. The regiment for the conservation of forests that was instituted in Brazil in 1799 had the purpose of systematizing the construction wood cuts. The established rules were effectively applied in the captaincies of Bahia, Pernambuco and Paraíba. The work presented is an historiographical argumentation that deals with the specific issues concerning the application of the 1799 regiment in Brazil, in which local conflicts caused by the commercial limitations imposed are discussed and the role of the Conservative Judges of the Forests in this political and economic situation is analyzed. The issue presented resulted from an investigation of the funds and collections of the Arquivo Histórico Ultramarino, namely the Conselho Ultramarino-Brasil documentary fund, followed by the usual historiographical methods of reading, transcriptions, analysis and contextualization of the documents.
