A Few Modern Ways to Mitigate the Risk of Fraud in Public Procurement

The phenomenon of fraud in public procurement is both real and of great importance for the economic, social and institutional environment. There are various ways to reduce the risk of fraud in this area, which need to be addressed at several levels, starting with the legislative framework governing public procurement, sanctioning slippage, going through ways of disseminating good practice and establishing a management of intra and inter-institutional verifications, until the implementation by each authority of an internal action plan for prevention and detection. This paper aims to analyze the solutions that can be addressed at the level of public institutions and to propose some modern ways available to them to reduce this scourge.
