Zusammenfassung:By using the memory that literature and cinema can offer, this paper aimed at providing a reflection about the professional identity of women in a historical period, in the 40s, 50s and 60s. It was used some facts of life and pieces from Virginia Woolfs and Sylvia Plaths books. Following that theme, this paper focused on how the female identity is represented into literature and cinema. Finally, this paper shows a comparison between such identity and the post-modern representation of womens role in society. KEYWORDS: Literature, Cinema, Female Identity, Memory.
