Rajnski Forint-Rajniski-In the Croatian Kajkavian Literary Language

The paper considers a lexicographic procedure used in the making of the Dictionary of the Croatian Kajkavian Literary Language to establish headword and canon forms for twenty-odd attested lexical variants for the word 'Rajnski Forint', a monetary unit used in Croatia from the 16th to the 19th century. The paper first outlines all contextual attestations. Then it determines the value of the monetary unit and its etymology, provides a morphological lexeme analysis and describes canon forms and their grammatical determinants. Finally, it establishes the Rajniki form as the most representative, forming the area of etymology and definition. The existence of twenty-odd lexical variants for the word 'Rajnski Forint' stems from a variety of linguistic processes having occurred during the adoption, use and adaptation of this word in the Kajkavian literary language.
