Zusammenfassung: | Factors of cardiovascular risk in university students Introduction: In Brazil, some studies highlight the high prevalence of risk factors for cardiovascular disease in college. Aim: To determine the prevalence of overweight, obesity, physical activity, blood pressure levels and consumption to cardiovascular risk in college students at a private university center in Curitiba-PR. Method: Cross-sectional descriptive study with quantitative data analysis, conducted in a Private University Center, in Curitiba, Brazil, with 80 students of Nursing College. It was applied the International Physical Activity Questionnaire (IPAQ) to assess level of physical activity. It was measured anthropometric variables (weight and height), blood pressure and was filled a simplified questionnaire to evaluate the consumption of cardiovascular risk foods. Results: Among the studied subjects, aged 29.9 [+ or -] 6.1 years, 95% had high food consumption for cardiovascular risk, and 51.3% were classified as overweight or obese. On blood pressure levels, 2.5% of the volunteers showed borderline values for SBP and 7.5% of the volunteers showed borderline values for DBP. Only one volunteer showed values above the recommended limits (140/90 mmHg). College students with low weekly physical activity levels have significantly higher BMI and DBP than those who develop weekly physical activity at moderate (pIMC=0,008 e pPAD=0,010) and high (pIMC=0,001 e pPAD=0,044) levels. Conclusion: The risk factor with higher prevalence among college students is the food consumption for cardiovascular risk, which associated with the low level of weekly physical activity may lead to a raise in BMI and DBP.
