Zusammenfassung: | The article will present the Red slip fine pottery discovered in the last eight years of excavations in the ancient fortress of Murighiol (nowadays Dobrudja – Romania). Halmyris was in Late Antiquity an important fortification of Scythia Province, situated on the right bank of the Danube, and it was the last important settlement before the River emptied in the Black Sea. The pottery assemblage is presented from the perspective of local production and imports. Regarding the local production, we have a limited number of potsherds from the Pontic Red Slip Ware category, while in terms of imports the majority of the analysed fragments are from Asia Minor, whilst some forms are specific to the North African pottery workshops. |
