Zusammenfassung:Watching cartoons is one of the usual children's activities that has a great impact on children's affective development. This study, it was aimed to reveal the effects of cartoons on the affective characteristics of primary school students in general. The method of the research is the mixed method in which quantitative and qualitative research methods are used together. In the study, after the quantitative data were collected and analyzed, the explanatory sequential design in which the qualitative data were collected was used. The quantitative data of the study were obtained from 126 primary school students studying in Tarsus, Mersin. The qualitative data of the study were obtained by interviewing 12 students. According to the results of the research, cartoons have a very high effect on the affective characteristics of primary school students. The level of this effect is higher in female students than in male students. However, the effect of cartoons on the affective characteristics of primary school students is not changed by their grade level. In the interviews, it was concluded that the children developed positive feelings towards cartoons.
