El «Pranto de Maria Parda» y los límites de lo burlesco

Perhaps due to its small length, because it was performed outside the court and because it appears in the last book of the compilation (the book “meù-das”), Pranto de María Parda has been interpreted as a lateral manifestation of Gil Vicente’s genius. In this study, my purpose is precisely to rectify this reading and in-tegrate the play into the author’s work as a whole.
