Zusammenfassung:Perhaps due to its small length, because it was performed outside the court and because it appears in the last book of the compilation (the book “meù-das”), Pranto de María Parda has been interpreted as a lateral manifestation of Gil Vicente’s genius. In this study, my purpose is precisely to rectify this reading and in-tegrate the play into the author’s work as a whole.
