Abnormal S100A8 expression associates with postoperative recurrence in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps

Zusammenfassung: | To investigate the role of S100A8 in chronic rhinosinusitis with nasal polyps (CRSwNP) and assess its value in predicting disease recurrence after surgery.
Thirty healthy controls (HC), 30 patients with chronic rhinosinusitis without nasal polyp (CRSsNP), and 60 patients with CRSwNP were enrolled. Serum S100A8 concentration was measured by ELISA. Immunohistochemistry (IHC), western blotting (WB), and reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR)were performed to examine tissue expression levels of S100A8. The potential values of S100A8 in predicting postoperative recurrence of CRSwNP were assessed by the receiver operating characteristic (ROC)curve.
Serum S100A8 concentrations in the CRSwNP group were higher than the HC group and the CRSsNP group, especially in the recurrent CRSwNP group (P |
